On behalf of our client, we are searching for a forward thinking, enthusiastic farm vet to join their team in York.
A friendly team consisting of three 100% farm vets and one admin assistant.
Our client is ambulatory over mainly North and West Yorkshire with some forays across to Lancashire for export work. Clients are within an hour of the practice.
The practice is a 10 minute drive to the centre of York and just as far to the hills so there is a huge choice of places to live, both city and countryside based.
It is a predominantly beef practice catering to both large and small enterprises. As such they have a high surgical, obstetrical and sick animal case load, along with breeding examinations and semen testing.
The sheep base and involvement is increasing and there is huge room for growth in this area. There is little smallholder work however, camelid work in the area is growing.
The workload tends to be very seasonal with the quieter summer months giving us time to pursue post graduate courses and CPD. The business is supportive of sabbaticals if this is of interest during these months.
It is a 1:4 rota with a day in lieu given for any weekend worked with bank holidays shared equally across the year. Support is always given if necessary.
Vets are part of clinical working groups depending on their interests; contributing to progressive medicine and practice.
The practice is on the eastern edge of York making it easy to get to from either the city centre or the surrounding countryside. York is a fantastic city with loads to do and great rail links. The practice is close to popular walking and hiking routes as well as being within easy driving distance of the coast. Leeds is less than an hour drive away and Manchester is around an hour on the train.
