Dental Manager (Dental Laboratory)

We’re looking for an experienced manager to join a successful and established Dental Laboratory (and supply business) in Sheffield

The role will oversee the manufacturing facility and the wholesale distribution business, based across two buildings in Sheffield.

Although your experience would not necessarily need to be within a dental laboratory environment, some experience within the dental sector would be required. This might be as a dental practice manager for example, etc.

Your responsibilities as a Dental Laboratory Manager:


Ensure the customer experience is the best it can be and work out ways to improve it where needed.

Continually explore new products/propositions that could satisfy customer demand/improve customer experience for both the Laboratory & Distribution business.


Deliver regular staff meetings to keep the staff engaged with progress and updates.

Prepare monthly business review/update for Senior Management.

Lead the onsite management team and the performance of the business against agreed KPI’s.

Manage recruitment of new team members

Coaching, leading, developing a high performing team in a positive environment.


Manage the day to day running of the laboratory, being the point of contact for staff/contractors, and deal with any issues & complaints

Work with established systems to ensure productivity and satisfaction for members of staff streamlining productivity

Maintain focus on P&L delivery including cost control opportunities around materials & postage costs.

Maintain compliance with regulatory bodies, and compliance to appropriate Medical Device legislation.

Research new areas for business growth, as well as horizon scanning for new technology to support the on-going automation of manufacturing to generate more efficient production in the business.

Develop working relationships with key suppliers.

Your experience:

Manufacturing experience (preferably in a medical device/healthcare setting).

Experienced People Manager

Experience of developing relationships to win new business

Demonstrable ability to build relationships with key suppliers & customers.

Experience of introducing automation in manufacturing. (desired)

Demonstrable ability working with management software platforms.

Experience of identifying opportunities in the market and being able to react accordingly.

Experience of managing environments heavily dependent on IT infrastructure, software, websites & portals.
